Environmental assessment

A systematic process of evaluating the potential environmental consequences of a proposed project, plan, or policy before a decision is made to proceed. This evaluation aims to identify, predict, and assess the environmental effects, and to propose mitigation measures. The scope and requirements of an environmental assessment are often defined by national or international regulations.
