National Academy of Sciences paradigm of risk assessment

A structured framework for evaluating potential health risks from environmental hazards, consisting of four main steps: hazard identification, dose-response assessment, exposure assessment, and risk characterization. This paradigm provides a systematic approach to inform regulatory decisions and public health policies. It was first outlined in the 1983 'Red Book'.
