Environmental availability

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003971

The fraction of a chemical substance in the environment that is accessible for uptake by organisms or for participation in chemical reactions. This concept considers the physical and chemical forms of the substance, as well as its location within environmental compartments. It differs from total concentration by focusing on the portion that can interact with biological systems.
