Shelford’s law of tolerance
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010812
A principle in ecology stating that the distribution and abundance of a species are limited by the range of environmental conditions it can tolerate. For each environmental factor, there is an optimal range, and beyond certain minimum and maximum limits, the species cannot survive. This law applies to factors such as temperature, pH, and nutrient availability.
