Liebig's law of the minimum
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006555
A principle stating that the growth of a plant is not determined by the total amount of resources available, but by the scarcest resource, known as the limiting factor. This concept applies to populations and ecosystems, where the availability of a single nutrient or condition can restrict growth, even if other resources are abundant. For example, crop yield is often limited by the nutrient in shortest supply, such as phosphorus or nitrogen.
