Interspecies competition
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005986
An interaction between organisms of two or more different species in which both are negatively affected by their shared requirement for a resource that is in limited supply. This struggle for resources, such as food, water, or territory, can limit the population size and distribution of the competing species. The competitive exclusion principle states that two species competing for the exact same limiting resource cannot coexist at constant population values.
