Interference competition

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005941

A form of competition between organisms where individuals directly interact to prevent others from accessing resources, even if those resources are not in short supply. This can involve aggressive behaviors, territorial defense, or the release of toxic substances. For example, allelopathy in plants involves the release of biochemicals that inhibit the growth of neighboring species.
