Life cycle

The series of changes in form and function that an organism undergoes from its inception as a zygote, spore, or other reproductive structure, through growth, reproduction, and eventual death. This encompasses all developmental stages and reproductive phases. The life cycle of an insect, for instance, typically includes egg, larva, pupa, and adult stages.
