Life cycle assessment

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006557

A systematic methodology for evaluating the environmental impacts associated with all stages of a product's life, from raw material extraction through processing, manufacturing, distribution, use, repair and maintenance, and disposal or recycling. This assessment considers inputs and outputs such as energy, materials, and emissions. The ISO 14040 series of standards provides the framework for conducting such studies.
