Selection components

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010671

The distinct stages or processes within an organism's life cycle where natural selection acts, influencing the differential survival and reproduction of individuals. These components include viability selection, which affects survival to reproductive age, and fertility selection, which impacts the number of offspring produced. Other components can involve sexual selection and gametic selection.
