Gametic selection

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004745

A form of natural selection that occurs at the level of the gametes, where certain gametes have a higher probability of participating in fertilization than others. This can be due to differences in viability, motility, or competitive ability of sperm or eggs. It contributes to evolutionary change by influencing which alleles are passed on to the next generation.
