Microevolution
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007323
A change in allele frequencies within a population over a relatively short period, typically occurring over a few generations. This process results from mechanisms such as mutation, natural selection, gene flow, and genetic drift, leading to small-scale evolutionary changes. These changes are observable within a species or population, unlike macroevolution, which involves larger evolutionary patterns above the species level.
