Sexual selection
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010792
A mode of natural selection in which individuals with certain inherited characteristics are more likely than others to obtain mates. This process can lead to the evolution of exaggerated traits, such as elaborate plumage or large antlers, that enhance an individual's ability to attract a mate or compete with rivals. It often results in sexual dimorphism.
