Environmental bioavailability
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003972
The fraction of a chemical substance in the environment that is absorbed by an organism and becomes available for metabolic processes or to exert a toxic effect. This depends on the chemical's form, the exposure route, and the organism's physiology. It is a key factor in assessing ecological risk and differs from total environmental concentration.
