Bioaccessible

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001235

Describing the fraction of a substance ingested by an organism that is released from its matrix within the gastrointestinal tract and becomes available for absorption. This quantity represents the maximum potential for a substance to be absorbed into the body's circulation. Bioaccessibility is distinct from bioavailability, which measures the fraction of the substance that actually reaches the systemic circulation after absorption and metabolic processes.
