Bioavailable
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001247
Describing a chemical substance that is in a form capable of being absorbed by an organism and subsequently distributed to its site of action within the body. This includes substances that can cross biological membranes and enter the systemic circulation. The bioavailable fraction of a contaminant in soil or water determines its potential for uptake by plants or aquatic organisms.
