Quantity calculus
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013459
A system of algebra for physical quantities where equations are written with the quantity symbols themselves, rather than just their numerical values in a specific set of units. This method treats each physical quantity as the product of a numerical value and a unit, allowing units to be carried through calculations and cancelled like algebraic variables. The approach provides dimensional consistency in all equations, as recommended by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry.
