The basic rectangular unit in a spreadsheet program, located at the intersection of a row and a column. Each cell is identified by a unique address, such as A1 or B2, which combines its column letter and row number. A cell can contain data like text, numbers, or dates, or it can hold a formula that performs a calculation based on the contents of other cells.
