Desktop software

An application program that runs locally on a personal computer, such as a desktop or laptop, and does not require a network connection to function. These programs are installed directly onto the machine's hard drive and use the computer's own memory and processing power to execute tasks. In contrast, web applications run on a remote server and are accessed through a web browser.
