Floppy disk

A magnetic storage medium consisting of a thin, flexible disk encased in a square or rectangular plastic jacket. Data is read from and written to the disk by a floppy disk drive. Common sizes included 8-inch, 5.25-inch, and 3.5-inch, with the 3.5-inch disk typically holding 1.44 megabytes of data.
