Hacker

An individual who gains unauthorized access to computer systems or networks, often with the intent to exploit vulnerabilities, steal information, or cause disruption. The term can also describe a skilled programmer who enjoys exploring the details of programmable systems and extending their capabilities. The community distinguishes between 'white hat' hackers who work for security, 'black hat' hackers who act maliciously, and 'grey hat' hackers who operate in between.
