Hack

An unauthorized attempt to access or manipulate a computer system, network, or digital device. This action is typically motivated by goals such as data theft, system disruption, or financial gain. A hack that is performed with permission to identify security weaknesses is known as penetration testing or ethical hacking, whereas one performed with malicious intent is a cyberattack.
