Half-duplex

A communication system that allows data to flow in both directions between two points, but not simultaneously. At any given moment, data can only be transmitted in one direction, requiring a mechanism to switch transmission turns. Walkie-talkies are a common example of half-duplex communication, where one party speaks while the other listens.
