I/O address

A specific memory location or port number used by the central processing unit to communicate with an input/output device. Each device connected to the system is assigned a unique range of these addresses for data transfer and control signals. In x86 architectures, these addresses are 16-bit values, ranging from 0x0000 to 0xFFFF.
