IRQ

An Interrupt Request, a signal sent by a hardware device to the computer's processor to indicate that it needs attention or has completed a task. This mechanism allows devices to communicate with the CPU without constant polling, improving efficiency. Each hardware device typically has a unique IRQ line assigned to prevent conflicts.
