LUN

A logical unit number, which is a unique identifier for an individual or collection of block storage devices presented to a host computer from a storage area network (SAN). The host operating system sees the LUN as a raw block device, which it can partition and format with a file system. LUNs are numbered starting from zero and are central to managing storage allocation in SAN environments.
