A Metropolitan Area Network, which is a computer network that interconnects users with computer resources in a geographic area larger than a Local Area Network (LAN) but smaller than a Wide Area Network (WAN). It spans a city or a large campus, providing high-speed connectivity over distances up to 50 kilometers. MANs often use fiber optic cables for their backbone infrastructure.
