An acronym for Pixels Per Inch, a measurement of the pixel density of an electronic image device, such as a computer display or scanner, or an image file. It indicates the number of individual pixels that fit into one linear inch of the display or image. Higher PPI values result in sharper and more detailed images, with common display densities ranging from 72 PPI to over 400 PPI.
