A type of scanner that features a flat glass surface on which documents or objects are placed for scanning. A light source and sensor array move beneath the glass to capture the image. These scanners are suitable for books, magazines, and three-dimensional items, with resolutions often ranging from 600 to 4800 dots per inch.
