A type of integrated circuit packaging used for microprocessors, where the chip is housed in a plastic body with an array of pins on its underside. These pins are inserted into corresponding holes on a motherboard socket. This packaging was commonly used for Intel Pentium and Celeron processors before the widespread adoption of Land Grid Array (LGA) sockets.
