ZIF

A type of integrated circuit socket that allows for the insertion and removal of a chip with minimal force. It uses a lever or screw mechanism to clamp the chip's pins into place, preventing damage during installation. ZIF sockets were commonly used for CPU installation on motherboards before the widespread adoption of surface-mount technologies.
