Acceptable Daily Intake

1. The amount of a chemical a person can be exposed to on a daily basis over an extended period of time (usually a lifetime) without suffering deleterious effects.

2. Estimate of the largest amount of chemical to which a person can be exposed on a daily basis that is not anticipated to result in adverse effects (usually expressed in mg/kg/day). Same as RfD.

3. An estimate of the daily exposure dose that is likely to be without deleterious effect even if continued exposure occurs over a lifetime.
