Applied Dose
Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-001923
1. In exposure assessment, the amount of a substance in contact with the primary absorption boundaries of an organism (e.g. skin, lung tissue, gastrointestinal track) and available for absorption.
2. The amount of a substance in contact with an absorption boundary of an organism (e.g., skin, lung, gastrointestinal tract) and is available for absorption.
3. The amount of contaminant at the absorption barrier (e.g., gastrointestinal [GI] tract, respiratory tract, skin) that can be absorbed by the body. The applied dose might be smaller than the potential dose if the contaminant is only partially bioavailable.
