1. Any large group of chemicals with a pH greater than 7. Examples are ammonia and baking soda.
2. In microform records, a transparent plastic material, such as cellulose triacetate or polyester, on which a photographic emulsion or other material may be placed.
3. A solution that has a pH value greater than 7.
