1. Sediment carried along a channel bed by sliding, rolling, or bouncing.
2. Material in transport that primarily is supported by the streambed.These particles are retained in the bedload sampler. A sample collected with a pressure-differential bedload sampler also may contain a component of the suspended load.
3. In-stream sediment transport mode in which individual particles either roll or slide along the stream bed as a shallow, mobile layer a few particle diameters deep (the particle size depends on the energy level of the flowing water).
