1. Interaction between chemicals in which there is a change in the chemical composition of the elements or compounds involved.

2. A chemical change that may occur in several ways, such as combination, replacement, decomposition, or some modification of these. Common types are oxidation, reduction, ionization, combustion, polymerization, hydrolysis, enolization, saponification, rearrangement, etc.
