EpiOcular™ model
Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-009940
A non-animal test method developed in the search for a replacement for the Draize rabbit eye test. This test is an in vitro model of the human corneal epithelium composed of normal human-derived epidermal keratinocytes and is used to evaluate the eye irritation potential of chemicals, particularly surfactants. The EpiOcular™ Model would be used in combination with other non-animal alternative tests (see Bovine Corneal Opacity and Permeability Assay).
