Fungal Metabolism

1. The sum of the chemical reactions occurring within a cell or a whole organism (fungus); includes the energy-releasing breakdown of molecules (catabolism) and the synthesis of new molecules (anabolism).
2. The total of all chemical changes that take place in a cell or an organism (fungus). These changes produce energy and basic materials needed for important life processes.
