1. Industrial operations that process ores to concentrate desired minerals. According to the Atomic Energy Act, uranium milling is any activity that results in generation of byproduct material during the processing or uranium or thorium ores. See Byproduct Material.

2. Mechanical treatment of a nonferrous metal to produce powder, or to coat one component of a powder mixture with another.
