1. (AH-lig-o-TRO-flck) Reservoirs and lakes which are nutrient poor and contain little aquatic plant or animal life.
2. A water body or habitat with low concentrations of nutrients.
3. The state of a poorly-nourished, unproductive lake that is commonly oxygen rich and low in turbidity.
