Abreast

Describing the position of two or more vessels moving side-by-side in the same direction and keeping pace with each other. The term also applies to objects or personnel on a ship that are aligned in a row across the vessel's beam. When mooring, ships are sometimes secured abreast of each other to a single pier or wharf, a configuration known as a nested berth.
