Pier

A structure extending out over water, supported by piles or columns, used for mooring vessels, loading and unloading cargo, or as a recreational walkway. In aviation, a pier can refer to a finger-like extension from an airport terminal building, providing additional gates for aircraft to park and passengers to board. These structures often incorporate jet bridges for direct access to aircraft.
