Pendant

A short length of wire or fiber rope fitted with a thimble, block, or other terminal hardware at one or both ends. Pendants are used to connect components in a ship's rigging, such as attaching a block to a spar or extending the reach of a tackle. In mooring operations, a mooring pendant connects a vessel's mooring line to a mooring buoy.
