Accelerator

A pedal or lever in a vehicle that controls the flow of fuel or power to the engine, thereby regulating the vehicle's speed. Depressing the accelerator increases engine revolutions per minute and consequently the vehicle's velocity. In internal combustion engines, it operates the throttle valve.
