Antifreeze

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-000225

A chemical substance, typically ethylene glycol or propylene glycol, added to a vehicle's cooling system to lower the freezing point of water and raise its boiling point. This prevents the engine coolant from freezing in cold weather and boiling over in hot conditions, protecting engine components from damage. It also contains corrosion inhibitors to prolong the life of the cooling system.
