Backload
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-000375
A load of cargo or freight carried by a commercial vehicle on its return journey, after delivering its primary shipment. Securing a backload, also known as a return load, prevents the vehicle from traveling empty and increases the profitability of the trip by generating revenue on the otherwise non-productive return leg. Freight brokers and load boards are common resources for finding backload opportunities.
