Backprime
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-000379
To apply a coat of primer to the back, unexposed side of wood trim, siding, or other millwork before it is installed. This practice seals the wood on all surfaces, which balances moisture absorption and reduces the tendency of the material to cup, warp, or twist due to changes in humidity. Sealing the back side is a standard procedure for exterior wood elements, especially in damp climates or when installing wood over a masonry surface.
