Sideboarding
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-005263
The application of boards, panels, or planks to the exterior walls of a structure to provide a protective and decorative finish. These materials, which include wood, vinyl, fiber cement, and metal, are affixed over the sheathing to shield the building from moisture, wind, and impacts. Installation methods vary by material, with wood clapboards installed in an overlapping pattern called lap siding, while vinyl and metal panels are designed to interlock along their edges for a continuous surface.
