Battening
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-000462
The process of attaching battens, which are thin strips of wood or metal, to a surface to provide a fixing point for other materials like roofing tiles, siding, or wall panels. This creates an air gap between the substrate and the final cladding, which can improve ventilation and drainage. In roofing, batten spacing is determined by the size of the tiles being installed.
