Undercloak

A strip of fibre cement, slate, or plain tile fixed along the verge of a tiled roof, beneath the edge tiles, to support the mortar bed above it and give the roof a neat edge. The verge tiles overhang it slightly, and the mortar pointing is bedded on its upper face. It is installed before the verge tiles are laid.
